While writing these lines, I'm sitting in a beach cafe in Tel Aviv, just beneath the house I grew up in. I know this piece of beach so well. I know in which part you can walk all the way to the breakerwater and the water will reach only up to your knees. I know by heart the exact location of a huge flat rock, which could scratch you if you are not carful. I know which is the best spot to enter the water; just 5 meter to the right from the Lifeguard's tower, go in with determination, the water is warmer than you expected, dive in, splash 2,3 times, swim under the water till you can't anymore, and when you let your head come out at last, look back at the city that never sleeps - in this case - Tel Aviv.
I can watch this sea for hours. It was my source of wonder as a child, My friend from my teenager time and my fountain of inspiration as a grown up. So many secrets, so many moods. In summer it provided me with joy and pleasure, and in winter, a place I could lay my thoughts and contemplate about life. It is ever changing, full of swings. Sometimes it's very quiet and sometimes so angry you don't want to go near.
